A1 Passive Fire is a privately-owned Queensland company and is a subsidiary of A1 Interior Linings Pty Ltd, established for over 30 years. A1 Interior Linings is a highly experienced fit out and refurbishment company, comprising of Residential, and Facility Management divisions.
Having the support of A1 Interiors allows A1 Passive Fire to access significant resources including certifiers and experts in fire rated Walls & Ceilings.
Our licensed Certifiers work with the architects and fire engineers to ensure the building design and specification adheres to relevant BCA regulations and Australian standards and is specified to the lowest possible cost.
Our team of technicians work with other trades and the principle building contractor to ensure our installations are able to be completed with minimal fuss and/or interruptions. Our technicians work to the highest standard of safety to ensure the project gets completed on time and on budget every time.
Together our Project Manager & Fire Certifier closely monitor the installation process on every job to ensure the works are completed in strict accordance with the appropriate clauses of the BCA, Australian Standards and manufacturers specifications. We also offer managed certification services for penetrations installed by others where regulations permit.

A1 Passive Fire quickly became the go to company for the passive fire requirements for all companies on this project.
The job consisted of damper certification, installing fire rated materials to the communications & electrical cables as well as bussducts and fire rated board to provide separation between the diesel lines for the emergency generators.
A1 Passive Fire were engaged by Abri Projects to assist with the full refurbishment of the 20 storey office building located at the top of George Street in Brisbane’s CBD.
The building was gutted top to bottom which gave us the ability to sweep the building and seal all existing empty holes in the slabs to complete the fire rating.
We also provided new installs to the communications, electrical, and active fire penetrations throughout each floor.
A1 Passive Fire worked tirelessly to ensure the penetrations were sealed in each area to allow for staged handovers.
The Brigidine College - Science & Technology Centre started as a small job for A1 Passive Fire but quickly grew as the scope changed.
A1 Passive Fire adapted with the changes and provided penetration seals to all of the electrical and data penetrations throughout the building, including the large penetrations through the relocated communications room.
A1 Passive Fire Partnered with Stowe Australia to help deliver the first stage of the new USC Moreton Bay Campus at Petrie QLD.
The building is a 3 storey university building with an open air Atrium in the centre. The building contained many smoke and fire rated walls that required passive fire treatment.
Amira Apartments is made up of 8 storeys and 2 basement levels with a total of 75 apartments.
A1 Passive Fire were engaged by DTG Mech Services to provide passive fire advice, installation & certification for their mechanical services through the Amira Apartments building in East Brisbane.
A1 Passive Fire undertook the fire rating of the structural steel columns and beams to the climbing wall at the new Arcadia College facility at Robina.
A1 Passive Fire worked in with the plastering contractor to provide a 120/-/- FRL to the 10m high steel columns and the intermediate beams. We installed Promatec H fire rated board with CAFCO 300 Vermiculite spray to provide a fully compliant system.
This process involved a full prototype being designed, tested and approved. Day and night shifts including manual handling of 90kg weighted panels were required to achieve the scope of works. These works included more than 100,000 screws being placed into 2mm stainless steel purlins and over 50,000 SS spike anchors in a 65mpa concrete. The 8m high ceilings resulted in the works being carried out via boom and scissor lift access only. Operating under the strictest safety plans together with continual construction traffic meant limited access throughout the project. The A1 Passive Team is incredibly proud of the process and end result.
Provide Passive Fire protection solution, installation and certification for the electrical and data cable penetrations in the new hospital facility located in the sunshine coast suburb of Caloundra.
This project involved installing passive system and solution to over 1500 penetrations that allow electrical cable, data cable to flow from the communications rooms on each floor to locations throughout the complex. Interphase with other services needed to be closely coordinated so as to meet code and legislation requirements for compliance.
Passive fire solution installation and certification for the RSL Aged care facility located at Emu Park Rockhampton Qld. This project was to audit, inspect and complete rectification of the Fire walls and passive penetrations at the aged care facility to meet regulation and code compliance requirements for RSL Aged Care.
As the project was at an aged care facility, a lot of coordination around the residents was required so as Not to disrupt the daily activities and proceedings. This also involved ensuring all electrical power outlets where made compliant, a big task in itself due to locations within the tenants quarters. The final outcome of the project was well received by the client.
This project was another great opportunity for A1 Passive Fire to showcase our perfected Managed Certification skills. Managing penetrations in a large new build like this one can be tricky with over 1500 items to install, label, photograph and register and our team delivered quality work with accurate documentation streamlining our clients fire safety requirements. Using products such as the Promat Sealant, Bulkhead Batt and Supa Wrap we were able to achieve the required FRL without any hassle or delays onsite.
The same contractor for ZEST enlisted our help again for the Holiday Inn project at Spring Hill. A1 Passive Fire were again responsible for the fire rating of the Electrical Risers throughout the building and also provided managed certification on all minor Electrical penetrations, including our standard penetration register and form 16.
A1 Passive Fire were initially engaged to supply and install fire rated materials to treat the Electrical and Communication Risers throughout the building. The scope quickly changed to add managed certification of all Electrical penetrations throughout the building, including photographing and registering for asset register provisions and a form 16. A1 Passive Fire were able to easily adapt to these changes and increased work to achieve a compliant and cost effective solution for our client.

A1 Passive Fire combined our managed certification services with our installation services to provide a full passive fire package for the Japara Robina Rise Aged Care Facility.
Initially brought to site to provide advice to the Builder, the electrical contractor became our main client.
Providing treatment to the communication and electrical risers, as well as the dry fire services. We utilised the TBA Firefly Intubatt systems and the Promat multi service reports to provide a fully compliant set of penetrations throughout the project.
